Case Study: Emergency Cable Replacement
Replacement of Stolen Electrical Cable
Overview
PTM Combined Services was appointed to replace a stolen electrical cable serving a commercial site. The theft resulted in the loss of power to essential systems, requiring a rapid response to restore the electrical infrastructure safely and efficiently.
The Challenge
Cable theft caused a significant interruption to the site’s electrical services, creating operational disruption and a potential safety risk. A replacement cable had to be installed within an existing cable management system while working in a live environment with minimal impact on the site’s daily activities.
Our Solution
Our engineers coordinated the replacement works from start to finish, installing a new power cable through the existing cable tray infrastructure using specialist cable pulling equipment.
The project included:
- Removal of damaged cable remnants
- Installation of new power cable
- Cable pulling using specialist equipment
- Termination and connection
- Electrical testing and commissioning
- Restoration of the affected electrical supply
All works were carried out safely and in accordance with the latest BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
Results
The new cable was successfully installed, tested and commissioned, restoring power to the affected systems and minimising operational downtime. The project was completed efficiently, allowing the client to resume normal operations with confidence in the integrity of the electrical installation.
