Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for a Multi-Occupied Civic Building

Overview

PTM Combined Services was appointed to carry out a comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at Barnet Council’s main office building, Bristol Avenue, London. The project required detailed testing and inspection of electrical installations within a fully operational public-sector office, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations while minimising disruption to council staff and public services.

The Challenge

Conducting an EICR within a busy council headquarters required careful planning and coordination. The building remained occupied throughout the project, meaning inspections had to be scheduled around office hours, critical services and staff accessibility.

Our Approach

Our engineers developed a phased inspection programme, allowing testing to be completed efficiently while keeping disruption to a minimum. Working closely with the facilities management team, we coordinated access to plant rooms, distribution boards, office areas and essential building services.

Every circuit was inspected and tested in accordance with BS 7671 requirements, with findings accurately recorded and prioritised based on risk.

The project was completed safely, on schedule and in full compliance with current electrical regulations.
